MICS – Detailed Specifications
Precision Measurements Require Precision MicrophonesTM

Type 1 / Type 1.5TM
In this day of precision electronics, the accuracy of acoustic measurements is primarily determined by the input transducer (microphone). Repeatable measurements require improved stability over time and under all measurement conditions. ACO Pacific’s “Alternative” Family is the answer.
Type 1 Measurement Microphones

The “Alternative” Family of TYPE 1 and the New Type 1.5TM measurement microphones are designed to meet stringent IEC and ANSI International standards. The Stainless Steel bodies, selected stainless and titanium diaphragm materials, and quartz and other “0” Tempco insulators assure excellent long-term and temperature stability. The flat, predictable Free Field and Pressure responses of these 1, 1/2, and 1/4 inch microphones is reflected in the individual “birth certificates” supplied with each microphone. Using a microphone is now a pleasure not a chore.

Frequency response to 120 kHz (-2 dB) (Model 7016), Noise floors below 10 dBA (Model 7022), maximum input to 175 dBSPL (3% THD) (7017) and Phase Matched Pairs (I & PM Series) are among the features offered by these microphones. The MK224 Electret (prepolarized) Type 1, Type 1.5TM, 7051 and 7052 are also available. Companion power supplies – the PS9200 series, and the companion 4000 series preamps round out the product line. These precision microphones are mechanically, acoustically, and electrically compatible with their more costly counterparts.

Over 20 years of manufacturing and design experience comes with every microphone and system. Competitive End-user and OEM pricing is available.

ACO Pacific freqchart

The Frequency Response chart shown above provides an indication of the typical responses of our standard Type 1 and Type 1.5TM measurement microphones. The P curve is the actual pressure response as derived from testing with an Electrostatic Actuator. The F curve is the corrected Free Field Response curve. Extensive testing in Anechoic Chambers has established this Free Field Correction Factor. This procedure is standard through out the industry. Thus for Pressure response microphones – only one curve – the actual electrostatic actuator measurement – is provided.

Each ACO Pacific, Inc Type 1 and Type 1.5TM Measurement Microphone is supplied with an individual “Birth Certificate”. This certificate includes the Open Circuit Sensitivity at 250 Hz in dBV/Pa (dB relative to 1 V rms per Pascal) and also stated in mV/Pa. These values have been corrected to 760 mm/Hg. The capsule capacitance in pF is also listed, as are the actual test conditions. The frequency response chart supplied is derived from testing with an electrostatic acuator . Free Field curves are calculated from established Free Field Correction Factors and a Free Field Curve is plotted. Free Field Response curves are based on having the microphone grid in place on the microphone capsule.
